As a specialist in web handling systems, Farnam Engineering has been involved in the design (and sometimes manufacture) of many  different web handling modules. This page describes several unwinds which we have designed.

The first picture is of a small, automatic constant tension wire feeder unwind built for an electronics manufacturer. It is used to feed filament wire onto a helical winder. The resulting coils are used in traveling wave amplifier tubes.

The second picture is of a motorized indexing, cantilevered two postion turret unwind. It is equipped with pneumatic brakes and a sidelay mechanism for automatic edge guiding. This machine is used for magnetic tape manufacture.
